My music interest began in school when I was eight years old. When the teacher played a record to the class, It filled me with such emotion and affected me in such a powerful way that since that moment, I have been totally obsessed with music.
I'm self taught and play by ear mostly. I can play keyboards, bass guitar, guitar but singing is what I'd call my 1st instrument. I started composing music when I was a child, I spontaneously composed music using my voice and a broken guitar with 1 string which I'd found. I used to sing along, improvise and make up words and melodies to adverts on the TV and any sounds and music I could hear. I’ve always been driven to create and perform, it’s a natural part of me and so I did this despite the odds with whatever resources I had.
When I was 16, I saved up for my first keyboard and began to compose music using that. I used to record the music on a portable tape player. Later on I used play station games such as music 2000 to create my early demos and a broken 4 track recorder with 3 tracks working to realise my ideas and compositions
Today I use a daw to compose my music using a mixture of Reason 4 and Cubase 5 to record and produce my music. I currently use a Focusrite scarlett 2.2, Washburn bass guitar, telecaster guitar, M audio 88note keystation, reveal monitors, and record my vocals using a Rode K2 tube condenser. I try to produce all my own work. I am trying to get better at this but it takes a lot of time and patience. I enjoy working with others that I have met on social sites on the internet and love collaborating and interacting with other musicians. It keeps me motivated and stimulated with new ideas to work towards. I find it satisfying and rewarding to share my voice and music ideas with others.
I went to university in 2006 and graduated in BA Music Practice in 2009. I can’t imagine a life without music, I feel blessed to be able to sing and create and have it as part of my life. I hope to continue learning more and carry on creating, composing and sharing my music with others in the future. I'm always up for collabs, give me a message if you want to work on something
